Lab report for The Experiment of Flame

For those of you who further wanted to understand our experiment and or try it for yourself, here is our detailed lab report, unfortunately no bear-lion-minotaur-naked mole rat-creatures were acutally involved, but thats rather irrelevant. Anyway, here is the report.

Lab Design Sheet   Ryan and Luke
Name of Experiment: Paper Burnin’ on the Dance Floor
Question to be answered:
What type of paper will burn the longest?

Prior Knowledge: Magazines have tons of chemicals and dyes in them, whereas Art Paper (if Specified) is acid free.
Hypothesis:Prediction: If we burn different types of paper, then the art paper will burn the longest...
Hypothesis:Rationale: ...Because it has the least chemicals and it is the least refined.
Independent: Type of Paper
Dependent: Time it takes for the paper to burn
Constants: Time Exposed to Flame, weather conditions, location of paper
Equipment: Magazine, News, Art, Lined, and copy paper. A timer.
Procedure:
1. Collect the papers listed above.
2. Cut pieces of paper into pieces of 4” x 3”
3. Build paper holding apparatus as show

4. Locate matches or Lighter
5. Place paper in dish.
6. Expose paper to flame for 3 seconds.
7. Time amount of time paper takes to burn completely.
8. Record results.
9. Repeat 4 - 7 with all other papers.

DATA:
Art Paper
1:26
Copy Paper
0:30
Lined Paper
0:16
Newspaper
0:13
Magazine
0:10
ANALYSIS:

CONCLUSION: Our hypothesis was correct. We think this is because the art paper was the least refined and contained the least amount of chemicals.
